Upper U.S. Midwest Organic Grain and FeedstuffsDES MOINES - Feb 13/08 - SNS -- Bi-weekly USDA report on organic grain and feedstuffs prices in the U.S. upper midwest.
Upper Midwest Organic Grain & Feedstuffs Report (Bi-Weekly)
Weighted Average Report for Week Ending 2/09/2008
Organic grain and feedstuff prices higher on good demand and moderate
offerings when compared to two weeks ago. Soybeans are 2.00 higher and corn
50 cents higher. Several buyers report backing away from organic purchases
due to unfavorable marketing conditions and inability to secure enough
product. Livestock feeders, not wanting to pay for high priced organic feed,
are converting back to conventional production. South American harvest will
start in the next few weeks, buyers looking to purchase grain to meet nearby
needs from those harvests. New crop contracts for wheat are running 17.00-
18.00 per bushel.
Monthly and 4rd quarter average prices located below. All prices FOB the
farm and negotiated spot market.
