Farm Input Costs in the U.S. Down On The Month
WASHINGTON - Apr 30/08 - SNS -- The April Index of Prices Paid for Commodities and Services, Interest, Taxes, and Farm Wage Rates (PPITW) is 181% of the 1990-92 average, shows this USDA data.
The index is up 3 points (1.7%) from March and 21 points (13%) above April 2007.
Higher prices in April for field crop seeds, diesel fuel, feed grains, and hay & forages more than offset lower prices for feeder pigs, feeder cattle, feed supplements, and complete feeds. The April Index of Prices Paid for Commodities and Services, Interest, Taxes, and Farm Wage Rates (PPITW) at 181 (1990-92=100), is up 1.7% from March 2008 and 13% from April 2007. PRODUCTION INDEX: The April index, at 187, increased 2.7% from last month and 17% from last year.
