Upper U.S. Midwest Organic Grain and Feedstuffs

DES MOINES - May 20/09 - SNS -- Bi-weekly USDA report on organic grain and feedstuffs prices in the U.S. upper midwest.


Upper Midwest Organic Grain & Feedstuffs Report (Bi-Weekly)
Weighted Average Report for the Week Ending      05/16/09

Organic grain and feedstuff prices were mostly steady on moderate demand and
offerings with slow market activity, compared to two weeks ago.  Demand for
feed grade soybeans has picked up over the past couple of weeks, pushing
prices higher.  Planting progress continues to lag.  According to the USDA,
as of May 17, 62 percent of the conventional corn crop was planted, down from
the 5 year average of 85 percent.  North Dakota's corn planting progress was
23 percent versus 75 percent for the 5 year average.  Soybean planting progress
was 25 percent completed, compared to the average of 44 percent.  Monthly and
first quarter average prices located below.  All prices FOB the farm and
negotiated spot market.
