Upper Midwest Organic Grain & Feedstuffs Report (Bi-Weekly)
Weighted Average Report for the Week Ending 04/17/10
Compared to two weeks ago, organic grain and feedstuff prices were
lower with light demand. Trade activity was weak to moderate.
Offerings of grain were moderate with good availability, while
farmers continued to report an excess of old crop wheat and corn
this period. According to USDA's latest Crop Production report,
40 percent of the 2010 corn crop has been planted in Missouri,
while Kansas has 21 percent planted, Iowa has 19 percent planted,
and Minnesota has 13 percent planted. All other Upper Midwest
states have less than five percent planted at this time.
Monthly and fourth quarter average prices are located below. All
prices FOB the farm and negotiated spot market.
