USDA National Grain Review

ST. JOSEPH - Jan 27/12 - SNS -- The USDA issued its latest weekly national grain market review, covering the period through Jan 27.


WEEKLY NATIONAL GRAIN MARKET REVIEW

   Compared to last week, grain and soybean bids closed moderate to sharply
higher.  Grains saw gains most of the week as wheat found early support from a
lower dollar and the higher soybeans.  Buying interest emerged on Thursday on
increased demand for U.S. wheat supplies.  Soybeans and corn saw gains in
reaction to the news of lack of rain in South America last weekend.  Slow
producer selling and improved demand also helped corn rally.  The lower dollar,
higher precious metals and energy markets added support later in the week.  Corn
had bullish export sales above expectations at 1,040,600 tonnes.  Soybeans had
export sales of 592,300 tonnes.  Wheat had export sales above expectations of
609,700 tonnes.
   Wheat was mostly 53-66 cents higher.  Yellow Corn was 29-34 cents higher.
Sorghum was 52-59 cents higher.  Soybeans were 26-30 cents higher.

   WHEAT:  Kansas City US No 1 Hard Red Winter, ordinary protein rail bid was 53
cents higher from 7.76-8.14 per bushel.  Kansas City US No 2 Soft Red Winter
rail bid was 66 cents higher from 6.84-7.64 per bushel.  St. Louis truck US No 2
Soft Red Winter terminal bid was 55 cents higher at 6.75 per bushel.
Minneapolis and Duluth US No 1 Dark Northern Spring, 14.0 to 14.5 percent
protein rail, 11 1/4 cents lower from 9.27 1/4-9.77 1/4 bushel. Portland US Soft
White wheat rail was not available per bushel.

   CORN:  Kansas City US No 2 rail White Corn was 40 to 43 cents higher from
7.74-7.86 per bushel.  Kansas City US No 2 truck Yellow Corn was 32 cents higher
from 6.50-6.53 per bushel.  Omaha US No 2 truck Yellow Corn was 30 to 31 cents
higher from 6.42-6.43 per bushel.  Chicago US No 2 Yellow Corn was 29 1/2-33 1/2
cents higher from 6.19 1/2-6.44 1/2 per bushel.  Toledo US No 2 rail Yellow corn
was 34 1/2 cents higher from 6.37 1/2-6.40 1/2 per bushel.  Minneapolis US No 2
Yellow corn rail no bid per bushel.

   OATS AND BARLEY:  US 2 or Better oats, rail bid to arrive at Minneapolis 20
day was 8 cents higher from 3.10 3/4-3.35 3/4 per bushel.  US No 3 or better
rail malting Barley, 70 percent or better plump out of Minneapolis was steady at
7.15 per bushel.  Portland US 2 Barley, unit trains and Barges-export was not
available per cwt.

   SORGHUM:  US No 2 yellow truck, Kansas City was 52 cents higher at 11.34 per
cwt.  Texas High Plains US No 2 yellow sorghum (prices paid or bid to the
farmer, fob elevator) was 59 cents higher from 10.79-11.41 per cwt.

   OILSEEDS:  Minneapolis Yellow truck soybeans no bid per bushel.  Illinois
Processors US No 1 Yellow truck soybeans were 27 3/4 to 30 3/4 cents higher from
12.16 3/4-12.32 3/4 per bushel.  Kansas City US No 2 Yellow truck soybeans were
26 cents higher at 12.33 per bushel.  Central Illinois 48 percent Soybean meal,
processor rail bid was 9.90-13.90 higher from 316.60-327.60 per ton.  Central
Illinois Crude Soybean oil processor bid was 63 to 138 points higher from 50.94-
51.94 cents per pound.
